Nov. 10, 2008 - Merger Announced for Furukawa America and Furukawa Electric North America APD
Nov. 10, 2008 -- Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (FEC) has announced a comprehensive reorganization of its North American subsidiaries. As a part of this restructuring, Furukawa America, Inc., Peachtree City, Ga., will merge with Furukawa Electric North America APD, Inc., Plymouth, Mich.
Reason for Merger:
This merger is part of FEC’s realignment of its North American manufacturing and sales. The combination of Furukawa America and FENA APD combines the resources of two major subsidiaries into a single, larger company. The merged company will be headquartered in Plymouth, Mich., with sales and operations distributed throughout the USA as well as a major manufacturing facility in Mexico.
Schedule for Merger:
The merger is scheduled for completion on or before Mar. 31, 2009.
Impact on Operations:
All current Furukawa America sales and distribution activities will continue after the merger is completed. Furukawa America’s marketing, customer service, support personnel and locations will remain unchanged. Furukawa America's offices in Peachtree City, Ga., and Franklin, Ind., will be maintained following the merger.
